Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Garlic Knots
  1. In a large bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of instant yeast with 1 cup of warm water. Add in ⅓ cup of vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, and 1 egg.
  2. Gradually mix in 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt, stirring until a shaggy dough starts to form.
  3. Generously butter a 12-cup muffin tin. Optionally place 2 teaspoons of shredded cheese into the bottom of each muffin cup.
  4. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 8-10 inches long, then tie it into a knot.
  5. Brush each knot gently with a beaten egg wash. Allow the knots to rest for about 5-10 minutes while you preheat the oven to 425°F.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together melted butter with diced fresh garlic and chopped parsley.
  7. Bake the knots for 10-12 minutes, until they are golden brown.
  8. Remove the garlic knots from the oven and immediately brush them with the prepared garlic butter mixture.
