- In a small bowl, combine 1 teaspoon of sugar with 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast and ¾ cup of warm water. Let sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Create a well in the center, then add the foamy yeast mixture, ⅓ cup of yogurt, and 2 tablespoons of oil. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes.
- Shape the dough into a ball, place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 8 portions. Roll each into an oval shape.
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 1 minute on each side until golden brown.
- Mix 3 tablespoons of melted butter with 3 cloves of minced garlic. Brush over the hot naan and garnish with salt and fresh cilantro or parsley.
