  • 3 cloves garlic Fresh garlic is recommended for the best taste.
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese You can swap it for Grana Padano or Pecorino Romano if needed.
For Cooking
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter Butter adds a richer flavor that enhances the garlic.
  • seasonings (salt, pepper, Italian herbs) Adjust to your liking.
Optional Additions
  • vegetables (bell peppers, onions, or sun-dried tomatoes) Add these for extra nutrition and vibrant flavor.

Equipment

  • large skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter over medium heat. Allow the oil to warm until shimmering or the butter to melt and foam, which typically takes about 1 minute.
  2. Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the hot oil or melted butter. Sauté for about 30 seconds until the garlic becomes fragrant and just begins to turn golden.
  3. Add 1 pound of large shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.
  4. Once the shrimp are cooked, remove them from the skillet and place them on a plate. Cover them with foil to keep them warm.
  5. In the same skillet, pour in 1 cup of heavy cream. Reduce the heat to low and bring the cream to a gentle simmer, stirring consistently for about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese to the simmering cream, along with salt and pepper to taste. Stir continuously until the cheese melts completely.
  7. Return the sautéed shrimp to the skillet, tossing them gently to coat in the creamy garlic sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes on low heat.
  8. Once completed, remove the skillet from heat. Serve your Creamy Garlic Shrimp immediately over a bed of rice, pasta, or with crusty bread.
