- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather your ingredients and equipment.
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the penne pasta. Cook until al dente, about 8–10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In an ovenproof skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
- Add sliced mushrooms, chopped onion, and bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for 5–6 minutes until softened.
- Stir in French onion soup and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Whisk together cold water and cornstarch until smooth. Add to the skillet, stirring and simmering until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Fold the drained penne into the sauce, stirring for about 2 minutes to combine.
- Sprinkle cheese over the pasta and bake for about 15 minutes, until cheese is melted and golden.
