- Start by gently mixing the ground beef with kosher salt and freshly cracked pepper in a large bowl. Form into individual patties, about ¾ inch thick.
- Shape patties and create a thumbprint dimple in the center of each one to prevent puffing while grilling.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, about 400°F (204°C). Oil the grates with a paper towel dipped in vegetable oil.
- Place the patties on the grill, cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until juices pool on top, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- During the last minute of cooking, place hamburger buns on the grill cut side down to toast lightly.
- Remove burgers from the grill and let them rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.
