Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together ¾ cup of softened butter and ½ cup of lightly packed brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add 1 egg (or flaxseed mixture) and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add 1½ cups of flour and ¼ teaspoon of salt, stirring gently until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Gently press two indents into each dough ball to shape them into hearts.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers remain pale.
  8. Remove from the oven and cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
  9. Once cooled, fill the indents with ¼ cup of your favorite jam.
