Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Gather all ingredients. Rinse quinoa and cook according to package instructions for about 15 minutes. Finely chop onion and garlic, and measure out lentils.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes, then add minced garlic for another 1-2 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cooked quinoa, sautéed onions and garlic, lentils, and oats. Gently mash lentils with a fork.
  4. Sprinkle in cumin, paprika, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly for an even consistency.
  5. Form mixture into patties about 1 inch thick. Aim for 6-8 patties, laying them on a parchment-lined tray.
  6. In the same skillet, add more olive oil and heat over medium-high. Cook patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  7. Serve on whole wheat buns, topped with lettuce, avocado, and tomato. Enjoy warm!
