Cooking Steps
  1. Soak the clams in fresh water for about 30 minutes, then rinse and set aside.
  2. Prepare the other ingredients: dice the chorizo, mince the shallot, and slice the garlic.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté shallots, garlic, and red pepper flakes for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add diced chorizo to the pot; cook for 5 minutes until slightly crispy.
  5. Pour in the white wine and vegetable broth; bring to a boil and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add soaked clams to the pot, cover, and steam for 5-7 minutes until opened.
  7. Reduce heat, stir in butter and lemon zest; simmer for an additional minute.
  8. Ladle into serving bowls, serve with toasted bread and lemon wedges.
