For the Beef
  • 1 pound Flank Steak can be substituted with sirloin or ribeye, sliced thin against the grain
  • 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce can use tamari for a gluten-free option
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch helps to tenderize the beef
For the Vegetables
  • 1 medium Onion any type can be used
  • 3 cloves Garlic fresh is preferred for maximum impact
  • 1 medium Bell Pepper any color variety
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger freshly minced
For the Sauce & Seasoning
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth vegetable broth can be used for a vegetarian version
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil use sparingly
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For Garnish
  • 2 stalks Green Onions used for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Stir well and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add a splash of vegetable oil. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove from pan.
  3. In the same skillet, add more oil if needed and stir-fry sliced onion and bell pepper for 3-5 minutes until tender.
  4. Add freshly minced garlic and ginger to the pan and stir for about 1 minute.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet, pour in beef broth and oyster sauce, cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Drizzle sesame oil, add salt and pepper, then toss together before serving. Garnish with green onions.
