  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Use vegan butter to keep it dairy-free
For the Topping
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese Nutritional yeast can be used as a vegan alternative
  • ½ teaspoon Cayenne Powder Adjust based on heat tolerance
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder

Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine lukewarm water, lukewarm milk, and honey. Sprinkle in instant yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add beaten egg, sunflower oil, all-purpose flour, and salt. Melt butter, pour it in and mix until a dough forms. Knead for 10-12 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
Topping and Chicken
  1. Combine Parmesan cheese, cayenne powder, onion powder, and black pepper in a bowl to create the topping.
  2. Cut chicken filet into bite-sized pieces; marinate with salt, sambal oelek, and soy sauce for 1-2 hours. Refrigerate to enhance flavor.
Bun Assembly
  1. Punch down risen dough, divide into 14 pieces, roll each into a rectangle, and fold in half.
  2. Brush dough with milk, dip in Parmesan mixture, and place on a lined baking sheet. Let rise for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F). Bake buns for 12-15 minutes until golden.
  4. Mix cornstarch with salt, onion powder, and black pepper. Coat marinated chicken and fry until golden and cooked through.
  5. Prepare sauce by whisking mayonnaise, chili sauce, and sambal oelek.
  6. Assemble buns with fried chicken, veggies, and sauce. Serve warm.
