Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

- In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water until the dough holds together. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

- Wash, peel, and slice the apples. Toss apple slices with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a large bowl.

- Roll out the chilled dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a parchment-lined skillet, leaving some overhang for a rustic look.

- Fill the center with apple filling and fold the crust over, pleating as you go. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse sugar.

- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until the crust is golden and apples are bubbling.

- Cool for 10-15 minutes before serving with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes
Best enjoyed fresh out of the oven. Make sure to use a combination of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor balance.
