Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika. Stir until smooth.
  3. Coat each strip of bacon generously with the sugar mixture and lay them flat on the wire rack.
  4. Bake the bacon for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and caramelized.
  5. Slice the baguette diagonally into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Toast the bread in the oven during the last 8-10 minutes of baking the bacon until golden and crisp.
  7. Once the bacon cools, chop into bite-sized pieces. Spread goat cheese on each baguette slice, then top with bacon.
  8. Drizzle with your choice of syrup and garnish with fresh herbs. Serve immediately.
