Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
- In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika. Stir until smooth.
- Coat each strip of bacon generously with the sugar mixture and lay them flat on the wire rack.
- Bake the bacon for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and caramelized.
- Slice the baguette diagonally into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Toast the bread in the oven during the last 8-10 minutes of baking the bacon until golden and crisp.
- Once the bacon cools, chop into bite-sized pieces. Spread goat cheese on each baguette slice, then top with bacon.
- Drizzle with your choice of syrup and garnish with fresh herbs. Serve immediately.
