Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of bread flour, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, and 2 teaspoons of salt. Gradually pour in 1 and 3/4 cups of lukewarm water, stirring until a wet, sticky dough forms.
  2. Cover the bowl tightly and set it in a warm area for about 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  3. Every 30 minutes during the first rise, wet your fingers and stretch the dough from one side, then fold it over itself.
  4. Once risen, transfer the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into two loaves or eight rolls.
  5. Place the shaped pieces on a floured towel for about 30 minutes to rise again.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
  7. Transfer the risen loaves onto the baking sheet and bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
