Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Korean Steak Sandwich
  1. Step 1: Prep Steak - Freeze the ribeye for 30 minutes. Once firm, slice it into thin strips, about 2mm thick.
  2. Step 2: Marinate - Combine soy sauce, gochujang, minced ginger, light brown sugar, rice wine, minced garlic, black pepper, grated apple, and toasted sesame oil in a bowl. Add ribeye and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Cook Steak - Heat skillet over medium-high and add oil. Cook marinated steak for 4-5 minutes until caramelized, then set aside.
  4. Step 4: Sauté Peppers - In the same skillet, sauté sliced bell peppers over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until softened and slightly charred.
  5. Step 5: Assemble Sandwiches - Butter one side of each bread slice. On unbuttered side, layer steak, sautéed peppers, sesame seeds, cheddar, onion, jalapeños, and scallions. Top with another slice of buttered bread.
  6. Step 6: Grill Sandwiches - In skillet, reduce heat to low-medium and grill sandwiches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Step 7: Make Garlic Mayo - Mix mayonnaise with minced garlic in a small bowl. Drizzle inside toasted sandwiches, add sweet chili sauce if desired.
