- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and prepare an 8x8-inch baking dish by greasing with butter and lining with parchment.
- Whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1 cup of powdered sugar until pale and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Slowly whisk in 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter, then add 1 1/2 cups of lukewarm milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Gently sift in 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour and fold until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, whip 4 egg whites until soft peaks form, about 3-4 minutes.
- Fold the whipped egg whites into the batter gently, leaving a few lumps.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
