  • 1 tablespoon butter optional for dairy-free

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Zest two ripe oranges and set aside. Juice the oranges to get about 3/4 cup of orange juice.
  2. Combine orange juice, water, granulated sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and simmers.
  3. Bloom gelatin in a small bowl with 1/4 cup of cold water for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add bloomed gelatin to syrup, stir until dissolved, then fold in orange zest and optional butter. Cook for 5-10 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Grease an 8x8 inch dish and pour in the mixture, allowing it to cool for 15 minutes before refrigerating for 4-6 hours.
  6. Once set, cut candy into pieces and dust with confectioners' sugar to prevent sticking.
