Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat or set an air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Wet hands slightly and roll the mixture into evenly sized meatballs, about 1-1.5 inches in diameter.
  4. Carefully place meatballs in the preheated skillet, browning for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown.
  5. In a separate pot, combine chicken or vegetable broth, lemon juice, and zest. Heat until simmering.
  6. Transfer browned meatballs to the simmering lemon sauce and allow to simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and let the meatballs rest in the sauce for 5-10 minutes before serving.
