  • 1 large Sweet Onion Thinly sliced.
  • 2 medium Ripe Tomatoes Choose the ripest for best flavor.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Substitute with gouda, gruyère, or pepper jack.
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Can be swapped for more cheddar.
  • 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise Omit for a lighter version.
  • 1 cup Fresh Chopped Basil Dried basil works in a pinch.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Fit the 9-inch refrigerated pie crust into a pie pan and par-bake for 8 minutes.
  3. Cook the turkey bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy and golden for 8-10 minutes.
  4. Sauté thinly sliced onion in the same skillet with the bacon drippings for approximately 7 minutes until soft and golden brown.
  5. Layer half of your sliced tomatoes on the bottom of the crust, followed by onions and crumbled turkey bacon, then top with remaining tomato slices.
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, mayonnaise, basil, salt, and pepper.
  7. Spread cheese mixture over layered ingredients in the pie crust and bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
