For the Cheese Filling
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese Can be replaced with cottage cheese

  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (shredded) Use fresh grated for maximum flavor
  • 1.5 cups Mozzarella Cheese (shredded, divided) Substituting part with provolone is optional
  • ¼ cup Parsley (chopped) Basil can be used for an Italian twist

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Cook the lasagna noodles in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and transfer to cold water.
  2. Brown ground beef in a pan over medium heat for 5-7 minutes. Add onion and garlic, sauté until onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, season with salt, pepper, and oregano. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, Parmesan, mozzarella, and parsley until creamy.
  5. Lay each noodle flat, spread cheese filling, and add meat sauce. Roll tightly.
  6. Spread meat sauce in a baking dish, place roll-ups seam-side down, top with remaining sauce and mozzarella.
  7. Cover and bake at 375°F for 40 minutes, then broil for 2-3 minutes until cheese is golden.
