Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the chocolate cake mix box, typically to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish well.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, prepare the cake batter according to the package instructions, incorporating the chocolate cake mix, eggs, oil, water, and instant chocolate pudding mix, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Pour the prepared cake batter into the greased baking dish and bake for around 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes, then poke holes all over the top using the handle of a wooden spoon.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk and warm hot fudge sauce until blended, then pour over the cake.
  6. Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the filling to soak in.
  7. After chilling, fold cocoa powder into the whipped topping and spread evenly over the cake.
  8. Sprinkle crushed Oreos, mini chocolate chips, and chocolate shavings on top, and drizzle additional hot fudge if desired.
  9. Chill the completed cake for another 30 minutes before serving.
