Step-by-Step Instructions for Crispy Vegan Shrimp
  1. Prepare the mushrooms by trimming the tips and slicing them into ½ inch discs. Cut each disc in an S shape to resemble shrimp halves.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy milk with all-purpose flour and whisk until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together panko breadcrumbs, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, sea salt, and black pepper.
  4. Dip each mushroom half into the batter, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat sesame oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  6. Fry the coated mushroom halves for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer the fried shrimp to a paper towel-lined tray to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce and garnish with parsley.
