- Brown the sausage in a large pot over medium-high heat for about 5-6 minutes, breaking it into bite-sized pieces. Remove the sausage and leave the drippings.
- In the same pot, melt butter over medium heat, add diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until aromatic.
- Pour in the broth and water, add sliced potatoes, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a rolling boil.

- Fold in the chopped kale and cook for 2-3 minutes until wilted.
- Gradually stir in the cream, being careful not to bring back to a boil.
