Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Cooking Authentic Cabbage Soup
  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and brown for 6-8 minutes until golden. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until onion is soft and translucent.
  3. Sprinkle in smoked paprika and black pepper. Stir for 1 minute to release aromatic flavors.
  4. Add chopped cabbage and sliced carrots, stirring to combine. Cook for about 5 minutes until cabbage wilts slightly.
  5. Pour in beef broth, diced tomatoes, apple cider vinegar, salt, and bay leaves. Stir until well mixed.
  6. Increase heat to bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Cover and reduce heat to low, simming for about 50 minutes.
  7. Remove pot from heat and discard bay leaves. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed before serving.
