Step-by-Step Instructions for Bruschetta with Heirloom Tomatoes
- Wash and dice the heirloom tomatoes into small cubes. Chop the fresh basil leaves finely and combine them with the tomatoes in a mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, add balsamic vinegar. Set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Generously scoop the heirloom tomato mixture onto each slice.
- Serve immediately on a platter. Best enjoyed fresh.

Notes
For ideal texture, assemble bruschetta just before serving. Store topping separately for best results.
