Preparation Steps
- Combine warm water, active dry yeast, and honey in a bowl and let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in olive oil, salt, and garlic powder; gradually add bread flour until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place kneaded dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 2 hours.
- Melt butter in a saucepan; add minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and optional red pepper flakes, then remove from heat.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, roll into 8-inch ropes, and tie each into a knot.
- Cover knots with a towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- Brush knots with garlic butter and bake for 20-23 minutes until golden brown.
