- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a large roasting pan on a baking sheet.
- Cook the chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 6-8 minutes.
- Drain excess grease and leave drippings in skillet. Sauté diced onion and chopped green bell pepper for 5 minutes.
- Add minced jalapeño and garlic; cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Whisk together ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, black pepper, cayenne, and your choice of liquid.
- Stir in the canned pork and beans, crispy bacon, and sautéed vegetables. Optionally add proteins.
- Transfer to the prepared roasting pan, cover with foil, and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil, stir, and bake uncovered for another 20-30 minutes.
- Let sit for 10-15 minutes before serving to allow flavors to settle.
