Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Chuck Roast: Place the chuck roast in a slow cooker or oven-safe pot, resting on a flat surface.
  2. Whisk Together the Marinade: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sesame oil.
  3. Coat the Roast with Marinade: Pour the marinade over the chuck roast and massage it into the meat, then let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Slow Cook or Roast the Beef: Set the slow cooker to low for 6-8 hours or oven to 325°F (160°C) for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
  5. Rest the Roast: Remove the roast from the pot, cover with foil, and rest for about 15 minutes.
  6. Prepare the Sticky Glaze: Pour the remaining cooking liquid into a saucepan and heat over medium heat to simmer.
  7. Thicken the Sauce: Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry and add it to the simmering liquid, stirring constantly until thickened.
