Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of softened unsalted butter and ⅔ cup of granulated sugar. Beat until creamy and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Gradually add in 1 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour to the butter and sugar mixture until fully combined. Optionally, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  4. Form the dough into 1-inch balls and roll in remaining sugar. Place on baking sheets with space in between.
  5. Flatten each ball with a measuring cup to about 3/16-inch thickness. Optionally, press in sprinkles or chocolate chips.
  6. Bake for 14-16 minutes until edges are golden and centers set. Cool on baking sheets for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
